The Sunday Times launch 'The Fifa Files'
News UK, specifically The Sunday Times, approached us to build a web app that would house documents and information their journalists had collected while investigating corruption within Fifa.
Called ‘The Fifa Files’ it is split up into 3 sections. The first gives an overview of the ‘World Cup scandal’, the second allows users to read the stories that were published in The Sunday Times, and the 3rd houses the emails and documents themselves.
Working with designers at The Sunday Times, we developed an inbox style mechanism to contain these documents, that allows filtering, tagging of documents and shows the user how many they have viewed.
This was an exciting project to be involved with, not least because of the high profile emerging stories in the news and what it meant on a much larger scale, but it also as the nature of the project meant critical timing. The Fifa Files would be most impactful if launched at a meaningful time, so for example when something related hit the news. As such, we had to be ready to pick it up and get it live at the drop of a hat, working closely with our contacts at The Sunday Times for a seamless release.
The site and the documents make for interesting reading. Have a dig for yourself here: http://times-fifafiles-prod.elasticbeanstalk.com/
